Things to see and do in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
Just a few hundred yards from The Hollies is the Brayford Marina where you may indulge in waterside dining on food and drink to suit all tastes. Italian, Mexican, Indian, Oriental and traditional English restaurants all await you (one even on a boat). Alongside these are numerous bars in various styles fit for all age groups, most serving pub style food in either congenial or trendy modern surroundings whichever is your preference.
The city centre of Lincoln A ten minute stroll from The Hollies and passing along the waterfront you arrive in the city centre shopping areas where you'll find two department stores, all the usual multiples and, as you climb further up the High Street, the more individual boutiques for those select items.
Climbing further towards the Castle and Cathedral quarter the narrowing old thoroughfare of Steep Hill will offer you short rest stops in quaint tea rooms, art galleries, craft shops, antique book shops and, for those you have abandoned all cares of calorie intake, hand made chocolates!
Lincoln Castle houses a recreation of the old prison as well as one of the few remaining copies of the most famous document in English history; The Magna Carta. You can also stroll around the top of the ancient walls and climb the main tower to see stunning views of the whole city and surrounding county (and .. yes.. you can see The Hollies from there too).
Lincoln Cathedral may not be as famous as Canterbury or York Minster but it surprises the visitor with its vast majesty. If your heart is in good fettle then we recommend taking the Roof Tour which is a fascinating eye-opener and a unique experience; well worth the effort.
